An Award Winning Sustainable Architect’s Top 3 Priorities for Your Home

Jeremy Levin Design

In the second teleseminar of our series on home efficiency, I spoke with Mike Cronomiz of Re:Vision Architects.  Revision is an award winning firm that’s been involved in sustainable architecture well before most people heard of it.  The firm watched as their clients went from needing to be educated about sustainability to seeking out and asking the firm for sustainable buildings.  Revision helped the USGBC in developing LEED by piloting all of its programs.

I sat down with Mike Cronomiz to ask him questions from Smarter Context readers.

Here’s his list of three top priorities:

  1. Human activity and behavioral changes – what things can you do that cost zero money?  Turn lights off.  Turn water off.
  2. Appliances and artificial lighting – use more efficient, Energy Star rated bulbs and (especially) your refrigerator
  3. Then – insulate the exterior envelope (including roof) of your home
